Vase with domed lid made of formed stippened fabric w/stencil painted decoration.
Giles Gilson is a master of many crafts and skills. He combines multiple materials and processes to create both simple and complex forms. Here, a turned collar and base with a constructed wooden rib structure frame fiberglass panels. Gilson's exploration of the use of pearlescent paints and flocking has made him a pioneer in the revival of the painted turned form.
